Sophia has an extensive metre gauge tram system.

The classic diesel shunter on British Railways, a design with antecedents of more than 70 years and, with its double frames, recalling design classics of the 19th Century. Collection includes some in industrial use and a Dutch version.

In 1953 the Western Region introduced a single 165hp shunting locomotive used by the Civil Engineers, this was followed by four more in 1958. Originally numbered PWM650 - 654 they were renumbered as 97650 - 654.

The very few photographs I took of Iranian railways during a visit in 1976. The photo of the WW2 WD tank wagon nearly got me arrested. At that time, there were many hundreds of steam locomotives to be seen in large dumps.

A series of photographs showing the tippling of an internal user coal hopper at the smokeless fuel plant at Grimethorpe Coalite in 1988. Built post WW2, the plant closed about 1993 and was demolished. The wagons descended through the tippler by gravity, and were weighed in the office to the left of the tippler.

A collection mainly of St. Albans locomotive shed - a very nice prototype for a model with only 2 roads and water tank on the roof. Despite closing in 1961 it was largely complete and housing a BR type 2 diesel. LMS engine sheds vol 2 by Hawkin and Reeve has track plan and more information.

19 March 2005, the second most important day in the history of the HMRS when the Study Centre was opened by the Lord Lt. of Derbyshire and Andrew Dow opened the Library, named after his father George, a founder of the Society and 1st President for many years. Fanastic, it happened!!!!!

Not a wagon but... Photographs of Radlett goods shed - a typical small Midland Railway shed on the London Extension. From 1974 I lived and worked a few miles north and saw this shed, in private use, quite regularly. Also station, bridge and other MR features.
